Pool Attire

swimsuit and coverup: tommy bahama, shoes: steve madden, hat: nine west, sunnies: urban outfitters
What isn't better than a good sunny pool day? Nothing, you say? I agree. With a three day weekend, and some fabulous weather, it's hard not to enjoy yourself with your family and friends.

Instead of having a cookout today on Memorial Day, we did it yesterday with food and more food and some lovely time by the pool. Although the sound of kids screaming (or were they laughing...) and dogs barking slightly got on my last nerve, I would say it was pretty successful.  It ended with a game of poker and some sherbert (strange combo possibly), that I just watched from afar because I don't need more anxiety in my life than I already have.

In other news, I would like to give a big thank you to Catherine from Not Dressed As Lamb for giving me the Sunshine Award (hopefully, not just because I'm really tan....get it?). If you all haven't heard of her blog, you really should take a look, and by really should, I mean go NOW and take a look. You won't be sorry!

The rules are that I answer ten questions and pass the award on to five bloggers who brighten up my day:
  1. Favorite color: I love any type of pastels like teal or aqua, or coral, or mint. If I had to pick a generic color, it would be blue.
  2. Favorite number: This actually changes way too frequently. When I was younger, it was five because I thought being five years old was the coolest thing ever. I mean who wouldn't want to be five years old still? Then it changed to six, because well...I'm not really sure.  But LATELY, my favorite number is 8; I read an article about how it brings good luck or something like that, so why not give it a try.
  3. Favorite animal: I don't really have one.  I like anything cute and cuddly.
  4. Favorite non-alcoholic drink: diet cherry limeade (hands down ultimate favorite).
  5. Facebook or twitter: Facebook...I'm too boring to be able to tweet about my life at every second of the day. My tweets would have to consist of: "And I am still sitting in the same spot as I was two hours ago."
  6. What is my passion: The wonders of science and math, obsession with style, addiction to good food (or just edible food), a love for fall with the changing colored leaves, reading a good book that I just can't put down, and spending time with good friends and family. (Hm technically this is more like everything I love).
  7. Receiving or giving: Although I love receiving (I mean come on, people, who doesn't?), I always love to give, and it doesn't matter what kind of giving it is. It could be nice small little act, and not an item. It makes everyone just feel better. It's all about passing it forward.
  8. Favorite pattern: Horizontal stripes. End of story. And for those who are familiar with my past outfits, you know that I'm not lying.
  9. Favorite day of the week: Saturday.
  10. Favorite flowers: Sunflowers--they just put me in a great mood.
Here are the five bloggers I give this award to that brighten up my day:
  1. Annie from The Other Side of Gray -- Not only does she have great style, and can mix pretty much any pattern and look good, but her wittiness and sarcasm make me laugh at the computer screen and embarrass myself in public.
  2. Julia from Cup of Tea -- Not only does Julia have a really cool website and header (sorry I've always wanted to say that), but her style is just so great, and her posts are always a pleasure to read and actually yes, brighten my day.
  3. Megan from Feathers and Freckles -- That girl can thrift anything and everything, make a DIY for anything and everything, and can literally make any person laugh. I think she's actually getting married (congrats!) so she probably won't see this, but that doesn't mean you all shouldn't go over there and check it out. like now.
  4. Joyce from Joyful Outfits --I sort of have an obsession with her closet, and would really wish we could trade.
  5. Andrea from Left Brain Right Brain Pug Brain -- Her blog in general just makes me smile, hence, the sunshine award.

Happy not-too-shabby Monday!

Vertical Stripes

wedges: target, jeans: express, clutch: via Macy's, top: F21, watch: michael kors, necklace: charter club
I'm on a Friday high right now (although I'm lacking some sleep). A day spent by the pool with family members that are visiting makes everything better.  So I'm going to go chow down on some good food and enjoy some of this overly warm weather!

Have a great weekend!

Squeaky (White) Clean

denim: F21, shoes: keds, top: banana republic, purse: longchamp, watch: fossil

I've had these keds (I accidentally wrote kids at first...that would've been interesting) for a year now, and I've purposely walked in mud, scuffed them on the floor, run around like a mad man in them, and yet, they are still just as bright as when I first bought them.  But they make me look really tan which is a perk...oh wait, I am really tan (with or without keds).

This is an outfit I wore to class. I have a theory: dress well, test well. It has worked thus far...or so I think.

For those of you who watch the bachelorette (yea yea, another person talking about it): I'm currently watching it as I write this post (on dvr obviously...since dvr makes me one laz-aay person). Don't get offended that I'm splitting my attention, but clearly I'm doing it for the both of us (I don't have a reason why, just go with it.) And I think I have a girl crush on Emily.  Totally normal, right? (HA normal...what's that?).

p.s. I felt like using a lot of (parentheses) side notes today.

Sassy Pants

top: banana republic, pants: gap, wedges: target, purse: marc jacobs, pearls: gifted
So, today, the family and I spent the day together since my cousin had graduated from high school.  It was actually really fun and full of food--obviously, the best part of the day was the meal.  My brother called me sassy today, but I told him that I'm allowed to be sassy with these red pants on.  I mean, clearly, you can't be wearing bright red pants and not be sassy (that's the excuse I'm sticking to).

In honor of that stud who puts me in my place when I flare up some of my sassy-ness:
Why am I groping his stomach, you may ask? ...I have no answer.

Green and Fuschia

sweater: F21, skirt: target, green button down: loft, belt: thrifted, watch: michael kors, bracelet: banana republic, clutch: my grandma's (i'm really not kidding), shoes: BCBG, fuschia lipstick: I want to say revlon...I'll correct if it's not
Contrary to the last post, I have a lot to say today so bear with me.  First, my good friend, Maggie (remember this post -- uh yea, that awkward gal..), she's deserting me for Italian and Parisian men on Saturday, and gallivanting off to Europe for four weeks.  Don't worry about me, I'll just be here. In Kentucky. Again. Shocker.

Awkward story of the day: you know when you're driving, yea? Yea. And you end up going the exact same speed (unintentionally, to begin with of course) as the car beside you? Yea? Yea. Well, that nice little incident occurred today to me. Except, I kept egging it on, because I thought it was funny. Moral of the story: it's not funny, it's just awkward; I learned that after a few awkwardly long minutes.

Second awkward story of the day: I believe I've mentioned my kickboxing instructor to you all before (George...his name is chad, but george suits him better --he resembles George Clooney). He thought I was...younger than I actually am....I won't specify how young. How appalling? I mean I know I'm still young, but George, come on. So I called him an old man the whole time, and told him that he's behind in the times.  Maybe, next Wednesday, I'll bring him some adult diapers.  I handled this insult well, no?

Also, in these pictures, I've noticed that I have like four different natural parts.  The more the merrier.

Not Another Monday

shorts: gap, shoes: target, belt: forever21, clutch: via Macy's, shirt: banana republic (old), watch: michael kors, pearls: gifted
I don't really have much to say today, except for the fact that those shorts are amazing and I bought another pair in mint too.

Happy least-favorite-day-of-the-week!

Lace and Neon

neon top: old navy, lace: F21, jeans: express, belt: hand me down, flats: target, sunnies: tory burch, watch: michael kors, bracelet: banana republic, ring: F21
Lately, I love putting this neon shirt from old navy under everything, and letting it peak out.  I feel like eventually I'll get over my obsession with this nine dollar shirt, but that might be awhile away. (It kind of looks like the shirt is white in the pictures though--I pinky promise it's not).

So I'm currently eating breakfast (more like ate). And I was in the mood for oatmeal so I opened a box of the blueberries and cream oatmeal, mixed it with hot water, and I wish I took a picture of it because it filled up approximately five bites...only.  I need like four packets to fill me up geesh.  Hungry girl problems.

Enjoy a fab weekend! {Word...err more so an abbreviation... of the week: fab.  What an intelligent not-so-word. Luckily, I haven't said that to any of my engineering professors yet..}
